Need we say anything more, the captivating title sums it all. Metaphors seem inadequate. Superlatives
seem scarce. Adjectives need to be re summarized…..that’s the towering presence of the red-brick
campus. It houses one of the best B schools worldwide. The icing on the cake is that it is an
architectural wonder in itself. In conclusion, a vision of the space scientist, the Late Dr. Vikram Sarabhai.
Louis Kahn, designed this red brick edifice with geometric shapes and a labyrinth of mazes. One of the
few striking features of this building is that the old and the new campuses are separated by a
subterranean tunnel. There are extensive use of geometric shapes, large open spaces and Harvard Steps
leading mysteriously to the structures. As a result, there are circles carved from facades, arches, and hemispheres. Moreover, all of these point to heavy concentration into pure, uncut, raw shapes and frames.
The entire 100 acre plus campus is a study in itself. Moreover, it is a goldmine for architecture and management students. The same holds true for photography enthusiasts and curious travellers too. An edifice that churns out the country’s best business leaders and scholars. The institute’s initial collaboration with the Harvard Business School set
the ball rolling for innovation in teaching.
