Ahmedabad and Ahmedshah’s Khichadi

Badshah Ahmedshah believed that no one in his city Ahmedabad should ever sleep hungry. Hence to fulfill his desire, he established ‘Langar’ (the kitchen that serves food to the community). Every day a dedicated cook would prepare seven kg of ‘khichdi’ to which would be donated to around 50-55 hungry or needy people.

This ritual of feeding the needy continuous 364 days a year except on the day of the death anniversary of the founder of Ahmedabad – Badshah Ahmedshah.
