Toilet Garden – A must visit café in Ahmedabad
By Zalak Patel | Published on : June 27, 2018Ahmedabad is not just about heritage, history, monuments, museum, culture, or tradition but it has got some unconventional and unique theme based places as well.
Join Experience Ahmedabad to explore Toilet café. It is the most unique theme based café of Ahmedabad situated on the same campus of Safai Vidyalaya nearby Gandhi Ashram.
Toilet garden café is an interesting place where you don’t have to sit on chairs or a comfy sofa, but it is an ACTUAL TOILET SEAT where you have to sit and order your cup of tea or coffee along with some snacks for munching.
And yes, you don’t have to push a flush button or any lever there. The toilet paper can be used as tissue paper.
Interestingly, they follow a two-way billing system that every time you lighten yourself, you are paid a sum of Rs 2! Yes, Rs. 2! So they follow ‘USE and GET PAID’ note instead of ‘PAY and USE’.
Whereas an even more interesting thing is that the actual toilets have different names. We were so fascinated with the toilet names being, ‘Hash and Freedom from Pressure’.
The place is divided into a café and a garden. Toilet garden has more than 20 urinals and lavatories used in past according to needs and preference in different regions of India. We would like to remind that these are JUST for displays!
This concept was introduced for educating locals about the sanitization and application of different types of toilets which can be used in urban and village areas. Toilet café of Ahmedabad is a brainchild of Jayeshbhai Patel who got inspired by his father Ishwarbhai Patel known as Ishwardada or Mr. Toilet to make this.
Nowadays, it is a meeting point for politicians, NGOs, and School students. The café is not operated on regular days but they arrange tea, coffee and munching for their guests. They just have to inform them about their visit in advance.
